2017 WWC (Women’s World Cup) Event Assistant

General Purpose

Provides administrative, secretarial and clerical support to others in the office or outside the office to maintain an efficient working environment.

Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities

  • able to be a project coordinator
  • follow up with the business partners of 2017 WWC
  • answer phones and transfer to the appropriate staff member
  • take and distribute accurate messages
  • greet public and clients and direct them to the correct staff member
  • coordinate messenger and courier service
  • receive, sort and distribute incoming mail
  • monitor incoming emails and answer or forward as required
  • prepare outgoing mail for distribution
  • fax, scan and copy documents
  • maintain office filing and storage systems
  • update and maintain databases such as mailing lists, contact lists and client information
  • retrieve information when requested
  • update and maintain internal staff contact lists
  • type documents, reports and correspondence
  • organize travel arrangements for staff
  • co-ordinate and organize appointments and meetings
  • assist with event planning and implementation
  • ensure office equipment is properly maintained and serviced
  • perform work related errands as requested such as going to the post office and bank
  • keep office area clean and tidy

 

Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • business college training an advantage
  • previous office experience may be requested but this can also be entry level position
  • competent computer skills including MS Office or equivalent
  • internet skills including use of e-mails, group messaging and data collection
  • numeracy and literacy skills

Talented performers wanted for ‘Uncle Pop’ 2017 Women’s World Cup of Table Tennis

Women’s World Cup of Table Tennis is one of the top three table tennis competitions in the world. And it becomes extremely meaningful to Canada, as a hosting country, which comes to her FIRST time holding the highest level of a table tennis event. It can also be considered the SECOND largest international sport event in Canada after the Winter Olympics. In addition, this is the THIRD time hosting the ITTF Women’s World Cup of Table Tennis in a non-Asian country.

20 top players (national champions or world top ranked athletes) from 16 countries will be competing. And it will be broadcasted globally in 50 countries.

Time: Oct. 27th – 29th, 2017

Location: Pan Am Centre, Markham, Ontario

Award:

  • C$2000
  • A Thank You letter from 2017 Women’s World Cup of Table Tennis Committee

 

Performance: 1 (between the two most intense matches of semi-final and final)

  • ALL kinds of performance are encouraged and will be prioritized if it involves any element of table tennis, Canadian characteristics, ethnicity, and so on.
  • ALL kinds of diversity (age, gender, ethnicity, ability, etc.) are encouraged.
  • Creativity and originality with some extent of characteristics (ethnic) are highly recommended.
  • Professionals are preferred, but not limited to. (quality of performance comes FIRST)
  • The number of performers on stage at the same time has to be UNDER 20 (negotiable).

MOST IMPORTANTLY, you should try if you think you are good at it!

Please note that we will request some changes to the selected performance due to the stage arrangement, or other reasons. The performers will have to come to rehearsals and a contract will be signed.

The Banquet of 2017 ITTF Women’s World Cup of Table Tennis marks an official start of this international sport event, which indeed is one of the top three international games in the world. It is the first time for Canada to host the highest level of a table tennis competition. Except for the Winter Olympics, the Women’s World Cup is the largest and the most prestigious one in Canada. Many table tennis lovers would probably know that it is such a precious opportunity to watch the World Cup of Table Tennis outside Asia. As much as we are proud of hosting the game, we do strongly encourage you to contribute in various ways. Particularly, at this moment, we hope that you can share your talents to the world as Canadian performers.

Time:  7:30pm-10:30pm, on October 26th, 2017

Location: The Westin Prince Toronto

Who will attend: government members, politicians, business elites, famous world athletes, media representatives, and other honorable guests.

 

Each group will be awarded:

  • C$ 1000
  • a Thank You letter from 2017 Women’s World Cup of Table Tennis Committee

 

The number of Performances wanted: 4

As a prestigious international event, the 2017 Women’s World Cup of Table Tennis will be broadcasted in FIFTY (50) countries and reported by 10 broadcasters from China, Japan, the United States, and so on.

 

  • As a volunteer, you have the duties to:

 

  1. Be punctual;
  2. Be reliable and responsible;
  3. Communicate any issues or concerns which are likely to affect your volunteer duties;
  4. Do your duties as assigned and directed;
  5. Accept guidance from the volunteer coordinator or supervisor;
  6. Be willing to learn and participate in orientation, training programs and meetings;
  7. Understand the role of the paid staff, maintain a smooth working relationship with them and stay within the bounds of the volunteer role;
  8. Keep sensitive organizational information confidential;
  9. Comply with the policies and procedures of the organization.

  • Fluent in English Speaking and Writing (speaking a second language is an asset)

  • Commitment Statement:

 

Once you have committed to working for the event, cancellation of your role must be made 3 business days prior to the event date. Your cancellation and replacement must be reported to the supervisor ASAP.
