The final day of the Uncle Pop 2017 ITTF Women’s World Cup presented by Polar Naturals is finally upon us and with the title and podium finishes up for grabs on Sunday 29th October there is plenty to be excited about.
Who remains in the hunt for the trophy? Here’s our preview of the concluding day of play in Markham, Canada.

The action commences at 14:00 local time with the first of two semi-finals encounters as China’s Zhu Yuling takes on Cheng I-Ching of Chinese Taipei in the top half of the draw.
Zhu Yuling is aiming to reach the final for the first time in her career and will feel confident of achieving that feat, having seen off Cheng I-Ching at the 2017 ITTF-Asian Cup in September.
However, the Chinese Taipei competitor, who finished in the runner up spot at the Seamaster 2016 ITTF Women’s World Cup, won’t want to miss out on the title again and could present the world no.2 with a difficult challenge in the last four.
Following the conclusion of Zhu Yuling’s fixture against Cheng I-Ching comes the second semi-final between four times champion Liu Shiwen and the defending title holder Miu Hirano.
Liu Shiwen is yet to suffer a defeat in a Women’s World Cup match and will be hoping to extend that record on Day Three of the event in Markham as she bids to lift the trophy for a record breaking fifth occasion.
First of all though Liu Shiwen must pull off the difficult task of prevailing over Miu Hirano if she is to book her spot in the gold medal match and move one step closer to the title.
The third place play-off is scheduled for a 19:00 start and will be followed by the final.
