After a successful Women’s World Cup in Philadelphia, USA last year, one of the world’s most high level contests will return to the North American continent in 2017.

A spectacle of the world’s top 16 female players will go on show at the Pan Am Centre in Downtown Markham, giving table tennis fans across Canada a truly unique experience to see some of the world’s best table tennis action. The 2017 Uncle Pop Women’s World Table Tennis Cup promises to be an intense battle of high speed and accuracy between the top female table tennis players from around the globe.

So far 9 players have qualified for the prestigious event, including 2017 World Table Tennis Champion Ding Ning from China, a final line-up will be announced after the invitation process.

Last year Japan’s Miu Hirano became the youngest to clutch the title at 16 years of age, also marking the end of China’s winning run to become the first non-Chinese player to take gold at the event. She blew away the spectators in a fairytale straight games win over Chinese Taipei’s Cheng I-Ching at the final hurdle. Could we see another similar display of brilliance in Markham?

Without a doubt this is a unique opportunity, the highest level of table tennis coming to Canada. Whether you are a table tennis player, enthusiast or haven’t seen the sport live before, take advantage of this special occasion to immerse yourself in the heart of a truly world class competition.
