‘Uncle Pop’ 2017 ITTF Women’s World Cup of Table Tennis will be held in Markham from October 27th to October 29th and its 2nd press conference is on August 17th, at Council Chamber Room, Markham City Hall.

 

The honorable guests include Frank Scarpitti, Mayor of Markham, Tony Kiesenhofer, CEO of Table Tennis Canada/Vice President of ITTF North America, Lei Zhang, Vice president of 2017 ITTF Women’s World Cup of Table Tennis committee and the director of Revenue Generation, Maggie Zhang, Vice president of Westin Prince Toronto, Da Yang, President of Kiwinano Technology Inc., Conny Lo, SickKids PMP, Sha Chuan, Founder of North American Pacific Arts Global League, and so on.

 

Mayor Frank Scarpitti gave an inspiring speech on the stage and congratulated the city of Markham in hosting the 2017 ITTF Women’s World Cup of Table Tennis.

 

As the Chief Executive Officer of Table Tennis Canada, which is the co-organizer of the game, Tony Kiesenhofer, shared his excitement through providing an introduction to this international sport event.

 

World Cup of Table Tennis, along with Olympic Table Tennis game and World Championship of Table Tennis, are considered the top three table tennis competitions in the world. It is the 3rd time that International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) decided to host the event outside Asia. 20 top-ranked female table tennis players will join the well-deserved fight! Meanwhile, the competition will be broadcasted in 50 countries and areas including Canada, the United States, China, Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, India, Malaysia, etc. with estimated 500,000 audiences.

 

This remarkable event is also supported by government members, business elites, distinguished organizations, and honourable media. John Horgan, Premier of British Columbia, MP Arnold Chan, MP Geng Tan, Mayor Geoffrey Dawe, and more, sent a congratulatory message to wish for the success.

 

Maggie Zhang, Vice president of Westin Prince Toronto, particularly talked about the welcome banquet, which will be held at Westin Prince Toronto in the evening of October 26th. Specifically, the Opening Ceremony with unique performances and exciting announcement of the order of play after the draws will be the highlights of the Banquet.

 

The grand banquet hall can accommodate more than 800 guests that government representatives, famous sport athletes, business elites, local and international media representatives, and others will be invited.

Later on, Mr. Kiesenhofer, on behalf of Table Tennis Canada, presented a certificate of Honor to Mayor Scarpitti and a letter of appointment to Lei Zhang, the vice president of 2017 ITTF Women’s World Cup of Table Tennis Committee. Three of them announced the mascot of this event.

 

The mascot is from the designer of Kiwinano Technology Inc. And it was such a hard decision with a long discussion going on for a whole month in the WWC committee.

 

Mr. Kiesenhofer also announced the launch of 2017 Women’s World Cup of Table Tennis online ticket system.
